VIVE Arts is delighted to announce its partnership with the Musée d’Orsay in Paris to support the major exhibition Van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise: The Final Months and the accompanying virtual reality experience La Palette de Van Gogh: the first ever by the French museum.
The blockbuster exhibition is devoted to the Dutch painter’s works produced during the artistically prolific last months of his life spent in Auvers-sur-Oise, a village just north of Paris. Although Van Gogh only spent a little over two months in Auvers, the period was one of creative renewal for his own style and development, marked by the psychic tension from his new situation and resulting in some of his greatest masterpieces.
The related interactive experience La Palette de Van Gogh (Van Gogh’s Palette), co-produced by Lucid Realities, Tournez s’il vous plaît, VIVE Arts and Musée d’Orsay, takes as its starting point the last paint palette ever used by Vincent van Gogh, which was never cleaned and is now held in the Musée d’Orsay’s permanent collection. A high-resolution scan of the palette forms the basis of an imagined virtual landscape inspired by the painter’s world and use of colour, allowing visitors to have a uniquely interactive and sensory experience of the artist’s major works from this period. The use of the VIVE XR Elite headset allows visitors to immerse themselves in Van Gogh’s world.
An extended version of La Palette de Van Gogh, which includes additional renowned works by the artist, is also being developed for global release following the closure of the Musée d’Orsay exhibition in February 2024.
